Charlie Swain

Mission and Vision Pastor

Charlie and his wife, Adrian, moved to Summerville in 2010 to begin The Church at Cane Bay.  In his role as Vision and Mission Pastor, Charlie is responsible to lead our staff, shepherd our leaders, and train new church planters.  Beyond preaching and pastoring, Charlie enjoys a fun home renovation project and hanging out with his four kids: Reagan, Haddon, Lela and Lincoln.

Joel AinsworTh

Community pasTor

Joel and his wife Emily have lived in the Charleston area for eleven years. Joel is one the founding pastors of our church. His role as Community pastor includes creating and leading our "Missional Community" small groups. Joel also serves as chief business administrator and oversees facilities.

Chris Johnson


Chris joined the team at Church at Cane Bay in February 2018. Chris and his wife Alyssa (along with their dog Fozzy) moved from Detroit in 2017. He has been leading in the local church for years and loves to see the Kingdom lived out in people’s lives and spheres of influence. He is passionate about creating spaces where people can worship God through creative expression. He enjoys good coffee, podcasts, reading, music, and is an avid NBA fan.




Will has spent 20 years in ministry as a pastor, church planter, and overseas missionary. Will and his wife, Susan, have 3 biological kids, Wilson, Eil, and Greta, and they are also licensed foster parents. Will oversees our First Impressions teams and helps with our church planting residency.


Mark Treen

Mark loves working with our kids and parents as they "walk and talk with God."  Mark is retired from the Navy, currently runs a photography business, and loves being husband to Heidi and father to Luke.  Mark uses his love for children and technology to see kids grow in their love for Jesus by equipping their parents to be chief disciple makers.

Chris mims

student pastor

Chris is originally from Charleston and an 10 year veteran in student ministry. He and his wife, Tori, have been happily married for 4 years and have a fun set of twins, Fulton and Phoenix. Chris' role as Student Pastor is to lead students to be missionary disciples and help parents become chief disciple makers.

Heather Turner


Heather is a native of Pennsylvania, but has called Charleston home for many years. She and her husband Darren have two kids, Taylor and Dylan. As Ministry Assistant, she handles the day to day work that keeps Church at Cane Bay running. Her family has been faithfully serving with Church at Cane Bay since the start.
