JOIN US FOR SERVICE ONLINE
Join us on Sundays at 11am as we livestream our services (ONLINE ONLY).
We're grateful that we can still worship together, even in a time when we can't be together in person.
HOPE BEYOND GUIDE
We have been walking through the book of 1 Peter as a church over the last few weeks.
Our Hope Beyond Guide is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with Jesus on a daily basis, while following along with what God is teaching us as a church. More than ever, we need to learn to hear from God for ourselves and allow the Spirit to speak to us through God’s word. Join us as we continue through 1 Peter!
PERSONAL BIBLE STUDY
SOAP is an easy method to use to study your Bible. It’s simple. Just take out your journal and start by working through a passage or chapter of Scripture. As a heading, write the reference for that passage at the top of the page, along with the date. Then, just write the first letter of the words serving as headings below, and follow the instructions that come after. Your entire SOAP should take up about one page in your journal.
SCRIPTURE - As you read through your passage of Scripture, write down one of the verses or sections “word for word” that really stuck out to you as memorable or interesting.
OBSERVATION - Now focus on the one verse that you just wrote down in the “S” section. What do you think the author is saying in the text? What does it mean? Don’t apply yet!
APPLICATION - Now, write down what needs to change in your life based on what you’ve read in this verse. Based on your observations, how should you apply this to your life? This is a really important step. Scripture does us little good unless we put it into practice.
PRAYER - Write down a short prayer to the Lord asking for His help in putting His word into practice each day.
A Huddle is a group of two or three people that get together weekly to deeply study the bible, pray for each other, and provide accountability to help each other live in obedience to God.
We each need a few people in our life that can help us as we seek to be more like Jesus. That’s the purpose of a Huddle. We all need to learn how to read and apply the bible for ourselves, and there is no better context for that than a huddle. With the blessing of others investing in us, as well as the joy of investing in others, a huddle is a wonderful environment that teaches us the joy of applying God’s word and the blessing of communicating with Him in prayer.
Here is a general breakdown of what could happen during your time spent together. You may spend more time in one area than another, but this is an approximate breakdown:
1 HOUR SESSION
Read through passage of Scripture. Typically this will be one chapter out of a book of the Bible.
Take time to journal through that passage using the SOAP method.
Discuss your journal and insights, and share how it impacts your life.
Ask real questions about real life that help each other to follow Jesus better.
Pray together for the personal needs of individuals and families.
